MSA Presidential Elections 2012 Results

Bismillah Al-rahman Al-raheem,
In the name of Allah, the most merciful, the most gracious,

As many of you already know, the MSA presidential elections 2012 took place on April 5th,6th, &10th. The candidates were two incredible brothers from this year’s executive team; Abdel Latif Khoumaissi, and Murtaza Khan. For as long as I’ve known them, both have demonstrated dedication to the Islamic student… movement and have filled their various positions with full responsibility and competence. I have no doubt that either one of them would have filled the position to the best of their ability and been very effective team leaders. However, one had to take the position. 65 students came out and exercised their right to vote.

The results are as follows:

-Abdel Latif Khoumaiss: 26 Votes

-Murtaza Khan: 37 Votes

-Abstentions: 1 Vote

-Disqualifications: 1 Vote

Congratulations to our brother Murtaza Khan. We pray to Allah swt guide him to fulfill this responsibility, and to that which is best for the Muslim student community here at Concordia. The new MSA term will begin May 1st Inshallah. Until then, Murtaza and I will work with the current executives towards a smooth transition to the next term. We ask Allah swt to bless this association and its members for many years to come.

Salaam waleykum wa-rahmatullahi wa-barakatuh,

MSA Concordia would like to wish you a Happy New Year and a successful Winter term to come. As people around the world celebrate a new beginning with 2011, we should take our time to reflect on the year that passed, the trials put forth for us by Allah, but also the many blessings He continually bestows upon us. Please use this occasion to renew your intentions to please your Lord and Creator in the year to come and beyond, insh’allah, and may we all grow closer to Him.

Abu Harayrah narrated that Prophet (peace be upon him) said: Allah the Almighty said:

“I am as My servant thinks I am. I am with him when he makes mention of Me. If he makes mention of Me to himself, I make mention of him to Myself; and if he makes mention of Me in an assembly, I make mention of him in an assemble better than it. And if he draws near to Me an arm’s length, I draw near to him a fathom’s length. And if he comes to Me walking, I go to him at speed.”
